Welcome to the St Asaph Solar Farm Consultation Website. Find out all the latest information about the project, proposals, and how to have your say.

Our proposals

Anesco is developing proposals for the construction, operation and decommissioning of St Asaph Solar Farm – an 18.44MW ground mounted photovoltaic solar farm, together with associated equipment, infrastructure and ancillary works.

The Site is located approximately 1km to the south-west of St Asaph, 800 metres to the south-east of St Asaph Business Park and approximately 840m to the south of Glascoed Road, which runs in an east west direction linking St Asaph and St Asaph Business Park.

The proposal site is split into two parcels – a western parcel (approximately 13.22 hectares) and an eastern parcel (approximately 20.32 hectares).

The proposed project is expected to generate enough green energy to power approximately 4,777 homes and reduce carbon emissions by around 4,267 tonnes annually, helping Wales meet its climate targets.

The project will play an important role in tackling the climate emergency, meeting Welsh Government decarbonisation targets, and improving the UK’s energy security.

Draft Site location

Have your say!

We have been undertaking consultation with the local community on our proposals.

We held a consultation event at the following date, time and location:

  • Thursday 22nd May 2025
  • Neuadd Owen Village Hall, Cefn, Saint Asaph LL17 0EY
  • Between 2pm and 6pm

The statutory consultation period closed on Thursday 12 June 2025. We are currently reviewing feedback before submitting our planning application to Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW).

The consultation period has now closed, however we’d still love to hear from you – get in touch if you have any questions.

The Planning Process

As the proposed solar farm will generate more than 10MW of electricity it is defined as a Development of National Significance (DNS). This means that the planning application will be submitted to the Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW) and considered by an Inspector with the final decision made by Welsh Ministers. More information on this process can be found here.

Anesco submitted a screening request to PEDW to ensure the appropriate environmental studies were carried out before the statutory consultation. All relevant draft reports and surveys can be found in the Consultation page.
